We are unique in that we have the benefit of decades of experience combined with multi-generational knowledge and perspective of Ohio government. Our firm is known for our ability to tackle complex legislative and regulatory issues and to educate and work with members on both sides of the political aisle. We have also long represented clients at the federal level, and our firm's longevity has fostered strong relationships with key Ohio delegation members over the years.

Dayna Baird Payne - President, Government Edge

Dayna Baird Payne has been lobbying for 20 years, after graduating from the University of North Carolina and Duke University School of Law. She has represented a diverse client base over those years, ranging from non-profits to wind energy to tobacco and financial services, among many others. Dayna gained a reputation for thorough education on both sides of the political aisle, especially when handling tough legislative and regulatory issues. She underwent media training and has served as spokesperson for various industries during her career.

Dayna's skills include grassroots and coalition building to enhance legislative and regulatory efforts, drafting and offering testimony on behalf of clients, assistance in procuring and renewing state contracts, and PAC strategy development. She also serves as Executive Vice President and Association Manager for a state trade association. Dayna is known for her tireless efforts on behalf of clients, thorough education of policy makers, and ability to lead large scale legislative lobbying efforts.

Dayna played on and captained the varsity women's golf team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently serves as a Vice Chairman of the Memorial Tournament, a PGATour event held at Muirfield Village Golf Course in Dublin, Ohio. She and her husband, Tommy Payne, reside in Upper Arlington with their daughter.

Ric Baird - Vice President

Ric Baird began lobbying in the private sector in 2000. Before joining Government Edge, he worked on various campaigns for both legislative and statewide offices. Ric also served as a legislative aide to State Senator and former Senate Finance Chairman Roy Ray. In his time with Senator Ray, Ric worked extensively with the State Budget, Capital Appropriations Budget, Tobacco Task Force and Controlling Board.

Since joining Government Edge, Ric has represented clients interested in state budget and capital budget appropriations, legislative issues, state agency contract procurement, and rule making issues. Ric has also represented state trade associations helping coordinate their legislative and administrative advocacy, public relations and media efforts, PAC development and strategy, and membership recruitment.

Ric graduated from Furman University where he played on and captained the varsity golf team. He is a Vice Chairman of The Memorial Tournament in charge of player relations, and enjoys competing in both Ohio Golf Association and United States Golf Association sanctioned events. Ric also contributes his time to fundraising for Nationwide Children's Hospital. He and his wife, Amanda Baird, reside in Columbus with their two children.

Alexandria Mock - Executive Assistant & Government Affairs Director

Alexandria "Ali" Mock is the Executive Assistant and Government Affairs Director for Government Edge. Ali began her career in the Ohio House of Representatives where she worked as an aide for nearly three years. Most recently, she worked two years in the Ohio Senate as Legislative Aide to State Senator Cliff Hite. While working in the Senate, Ali clerked the Senate Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Committee while Senator Hite served as Chairman. In addition, due to Senator Hite's close involvement with the Senate Education Committee, Ali has studied Ohio's education policy closely.

Ali is a graduate of The Ohio State University and holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a focus in American Politics. Ali is currently a masters' candidate at The John Glenn School of Public Policy at the Ohio State University and will graduate next year with a Masters of Public Public Policy.
